WSUS

Windows System Update Service (WSUS) is Microsoft's solution for automatically applying system and application patches to Windows systems.  TECHNOLOGY SERVICES hosts a central WSUS service and has partnered with a number of colleges to support secondary WSUS servers as well.

Each Wednesday morning the TECHNOLOGY SERVICES Security Brief publishes a list of updates to the CITES-TECHSUPPORT mailing list. This list includes the critical and security updates that were automatically approved to all computers when they were released within the last week. It also includes the list of updates that have been synchronized to the server over the past week and are scheduled to be approved on the following Thursday morning. Anyone with a concern about the approval of any of the updates is encouraged to voice their opinion (preferably before Thursday) on either CCSP or the EndpointSEC-Discuss mailing list. In the event that a concern is raised, the update will be delayed until the concern is addressed. In the event that the concern is not addressed during the discussion, the update may be declined.

A mailing list related to ePolicy Orchestrator, VirusScan, and WSUS services is available at endpointsec-discuss@lists.illinois.edu. This list can be joined via the TECHNOLOGY SERVICES Mailing List Web Interface. You must sign in before searching for the list.
